Three Simple Tips to writing a Thoughtful Note

You want to let them know you're thinking about them. You just don't know where to start.

Do you ever find yourself thinking, "oh stink...I missed their Birthday, again!" Or, it's a week after you had a meeting and you think, "darn, I missed my opportunity to seal the deal." I can't say that I can improve your memory, or change back the clock. But, I can share some tips with you! Here are three short and simple tips to writing a thoughtful note.

"I missed their Birthday, again!"

One - Keep it short

You're not writing a book here. There is limited space so keep your thoughts short, clear and concise. If it’s your family member's Birthday and you want to let them know you’re thinking about them...say it.

“Happy Birthday Sam! I am so thankful for you and proud to call you my nephew. May your day be blessed and know that I am thinking of you and cheering for you this year! Love, Aunt LeeAnn”

That was three sentences. But Sam knows you took the time to write him a card and that you are in his corner. Way to go Aunt LeeAnn!

Two - Don't Procrastinate

Stop what you’re doing and just go for it. Even if this means writing it on a napkin or a note on your phone. If you’re out for a walk or on your lunch break, once you think of someone, go for it. Those thoughts in your head will never be as fresh as they are right now.

Once you get back home, find your Bungalow House Studio card and write down your already prepared thoughts!

Three - Check the Calendar

My sister-in-law is AMAZING at sending cards! I asked her what her secret is. How does she always send cards for all our Birthdays and Holidays? I’m not just talking Christmas and Easter, I mean Valentines Day, St. Patrick's Day, etc. this girl is crazy thoughtful!

Her secret…look at the calendar. If I know that x, y, and z, have birthdays in the month of March. Then at the end of February, spend a few minutes writing them all out. Write them all at once, seal them, and set a reminder on your phone to simply walk them to your mailbox the week before their Birthday! She's a genius, guys, I’m just saying!

Your Turn!

Now it’s your turn. What are your tips and tricks? You are much smarter than I am so let’s hear them!
